Hybrid Font
Hybrid Font
A hybrid font is when two different types of fonts merged together to make a new original font. There is lots of ways that creators have merged different fonts over the years, one of these methods are called marrying two together. This processes makes two different fonts come together like two people come together in marriage. Another method similar to this is creating a font that is the product of two fonts e.g a baby. This processes takes the best parts of each font design and passes it to the next generation. It picks up on little unique marks that makes you notice its a new version of another font. I like this method as it creates a hybrid font that's more subtle then just copping two fonts in half and putting the font horizontally together.
I decided to work on my own font. I stared off with using paper that had preexisting font types on, then used scissors to cut out the parts of the fonts I like the best. This created a outcome that was different parts of the two fonts I picked to use. As you can see from the image below I used very different fonts one was a lot more simpler and the other was a more extreme cursive font. I really liked this font but I do think that some parts didn't make seance, if you look at the two words I used I never used a capital letter for the H and F but then for the N I decided to use a capital letter as I couldn't decided what I wanted for the lower case N. What I do like though is the way it looks like a hybrid of two things. It doesn't look seamless yet but I can see the potential. In my second lesson I loaded adobe illustrator up and used the pathfinder tool to help me create mixed lettering.
